A UTI, or urinary tract infection, can be caused when the normal bacteria which is ever-present in the bladder, multiplies and irritates the lining of the urinary tract and or bladder.

SYMPTOMS OF A URINARY TRACT INFECTION?
* A raised temperature/fever
* Pain and pressure in the bladder
* A mild stomach ache
* An urgent need to urinate even though there may be very little urine to pass
** A general feeling of being unwell
Strong-smelling urine which may appear cloudy

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP MYSELF?
There are several self-help steps you can take. Whilst these will not in themselves provide a urinary infection cure, they will help alleviate some of the symptoms.
* Avoid baths-showers are better.
* Drink unsweetened cranberry juice-2 glasses per day whilst the infection persists.
* Drink plenty of WATER -around 8 glasses per day.
* Do not use perfumed TOILETRIES on the vaginal area.
* Place a warm heat pad or hot water bottle on the abdomen.
* Avoid alcohol and drinks which are high in caffeine such as tea and COFFEE.
* Urinate whenever you feel the need to even if there is very little to pass.
